What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of 113 different known cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and is non-psychoactive.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds. There are 113 known cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.

What is the difference between THC & CBD?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) are the two primary cannabinoids that occur naturally in the cannabis plant. CBD is not psychoactive, meaning that it does not change the state of mind of the person using it. THC is the main psychoactive component of the cannabis plant and is known to give you a mind altering ‘high’ among many other things.

What is the difference between Cannabis, Hemp and Weed?

Truth be told – not much. Cannabis is the main plant and like many other plant species, it can be cultivated in many ways to create various sub-plants, with various names and uses. Essentially, hemp is cannabis grown differently (i.e closer together).

Here's the science: The three sub-species form the canabis plant are; cannabis sativa, cannabis indica and cannabis ruderalis. Cannabis sativa and indica are the most commonly known sub-species that give us the different 'weed strains' people often talk about; sativa strains are known for their higher THC content and indica strains are known for being more mellow, with a wider variety of cannabinoid ratios. Hemp is simply cannabis sativa plants grown closely together, this causes the plants to grow extremely tall and strong, and naturally reduces the THC content too.

Is CBD considered medical cannabis?

Apothem products are available without a prescription as they are not a form of medicinal cannabis. Apothem does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. For more information on medical cannabis, visit the NHS website: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/medical-cannabis/

How do I take CBD?

There are a number of different ways your body can absorb CBD and this depends on the type of product you are using. Apothem products come in both drop and cream form.

We advise that you consume Apothem DROPS by holding them under the tongue for the recommended length of time. This method allows the CBD in the DROPS to absorb into the bloodstream via tissues under the tongue. This is the quickest way to absorb CBD into the body. Please see product pages for further info.

Our range of Apothem BODY products are designed to be used topically and therefore the CBD is absorbed through your skin.

What dosage of CBD should I use?

This all depends on what Apothem product you are using. Usage advice (and dosage, where applicable) can be found on each individual product page and is included on our product packaging.

Is CBD legal, and will it get me high?
